To behold Saco do Mamangua from the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain is to understand that the perfection of nature needs no filters.
Situated between the sea and the mountains, it boasts a strategic location within Saco do Mamanguá (Paraty) in the Juatinga State Ecological Reserve in Paraty.
The trail is surrounded by the natural scenery of the Atlantic Forest and features a challenging climb to the summit, which encourages us to push ourselves and rewards us with a paradisiacal viewpoint from which we can see Paraty Bay, its mountains, and its islands.
For the Sugarloaf Mountain Trekking Experience, we will depart at the prearranged time with our guide. We will start our experience at Paraty Mirim Beach, where we will board our boat to Cruzeiro Beach in Saco do Mamanguá. Shortly after disembarking, our trek will begin through the Caiçara community of Praia do Cruzeiro, where we will get a taste of the local culture. The trail to the summit is steep from start to finish, with 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles) to climb and the same distance to descend, taking an average of 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the ascent and the same amount of time to complete the descent.
At the end of the trail, you can enjoy a swim in the calm sea and crystal-clear waters, relaxing until it's time to return. You have the option of enjoying local meals and sampling some of the local cuisine at the restaurants.
