Description
Ride a local tuk-tuk across the Mekong to the twin islands of Koh Oknha Tei and Koh Dach. Experience rural life, cross a rustic bridge, and discover ancient silk-weaving in a shaded village setting.
Tour Program (Half-Day)
08:00 AM / 02:00 PM: Open-Air Tuk-Tuk Departure
Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in a private tuk-tuk. Enjoy an unhindered view of Phnom Penh’s streets as we head to the ferry terminal. The 15-minute river crossing offers a refreshing break and great views of the capital from the water.
08:45 AM / 02:45 PM: Silk Weaving Artisans of Koh Oknha Tei
Arrive on the first island and wind through the small paths to a traditional silk-weaving workshop. In the shade beneath a stilt house, you will see the rhythmic work of the looms. Learn how silk is extracted from cocoons and dyed using natural ingredients like ginger and tree bark to create vibrant Khmer patterns.
09:45 AM / 03:45 PM: Island Hopping via the Rural Bridge
We hop back into the tuk-tuk to cross the narrow bridge that connects Koh Oknha Tei to the larger Koh Dach. This is a favorite spot for photography, capturing the slow pace of river life and the lush greenery that defines these "Mekong Gems."
10:15 AM / 04:15 PM: Village Life & Pagoda Visit on Koh Dach
Explore the wider island of Koh Dach, where the air is quiet and the landscape is filled with fruit orchards and vegetable gardens. We’ll visit a local pagoda—the center of island community life—and stop to enjoy some fresh tropical fruit under the shade of a mango tree. The tuk-tuk allows us to navigate the narrowest dirt paths where cars cannot go.
11:30 AM / 05:30 PM: Scenic River Cruise Return
To provide the best value, we trade the road for the river. We board a private boat for a relaxing cruise back to the city. Relax with a cold drink and watch the fishing boats and floating houses as we approach the Phnom Penh riverside.
12:00 PM / 06:00 PM: Return to Hotel
Your tuk-tuk will be waiting at the pier to provide a comfortable final transfer back to your accommodation.
