Country: Cambodia
Duration:
1 days
Description
Discover the lesser known temples of Koh Ker and Beng Mealea. Be enchanted by the romance of nature as these temles are engulfed by trees, making them a photographers playground.
Be picked up from your accommodation and travel approximately 2hrs out of Siem Reap through the countryside and villages to the Koh Ker Temple complex.
1. Prasat Prohm: One of the prettiest temple stops you will ever see. The towers here are wrapped romantically by strangler fig and giant Banyon trees, making them a photographers paradise.
2. Prasat Thom: Meaning 'big', Prasat Thom is a sight to behold with its 7 tiered structure rising from the jungle surrounds. Climb respectfully up the stairs to the top for magnificent far flung views of the surrounding countryside.
3. Pass By numerous other abandoned small temples in the complex and make short stops if you wish.
4. Beng Mealea: Travel approximately 1hr back towards Siem Reap to Beng Mealea. This mysterious 12th Century Temple in the middle of the rainforest located 40kms east of the main group of Angkor Temples was built as a Hindu temple, but has some Buddhist motifs as well. It is largely unrestored but intact enough to make it a fascinating visit none the less.
5. Return to Siem Reap
