Lake Louise freezes solid each winter making it one of the most photographed natural rinks in the world. We handle the drive from Banff and bring skates in your size.
Lake Louise freezes over every winter and turns into what is regularly called one of the most beautiful skating surfaces on earth. It is not a rink someone built. It's the lake.
Your guide picks you up in a heated minibus in Banff and drives the 57 km up to Lake Louise around 45 minutes, longer if the roads are slow. At the lakeshore we fit you with skates. We carry a full size range from youth through men's 13, so bring thick socks and we'll handle the rest.
From there you have roughly two hours at Lake Louise. Skate the full cleared surface, take the loop out toward the glacier end, or stay near the shore if you're finding your feet.
The Fairmont clears and resurfaces the ice daily through the season, so the surface is genuinely skateable rather than the rough, wind-scoured ice you'll find on most frozen lakes in the Rockies. When you're done we collect the skates and drive you back to Banff. Total tour time is about 4 hours door to door.
Honest about conditions. The ice at Lake Louise is natural and maintained by the Fairmont, not by us. If the surface is closed or unsafe on your date, we contact you directly and you choose a full refund or a reschedule. We don't run below −25 °C you can choose a full refund; or reschedule your tour to another day.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
