While the rest of the world is fixated on Hangzhou's modern skyline, I want to take you just across the river to a secret, historically significant portal to the past: Xixing. As the ancient starting point of the Eastern Zhejiang Canal, this living town remains untouched by typical tourist trails. Here, local life flows as naturally as it has for centuries.

Think of this as your personal cultural retreat. Our destination is a cozy, private Guqin studio nestled within the town’s quiet canals. To ensure a truly intimate and focused atmosphere, we host only 4 to 6 guests at a time. This is where you’ll meet the Guqin, the legendary seven-stringed instrument favored by China’s ancient scholars and sages for meditation and mental clarity.

During our workshop, we skip the dry lectures. I’ll help you bridge the gap between the strings and the stories. We’ll get your fingers moving on the silk strings almost immediately. It’s incredibly rewarding—by the end of our session, you’ll actually be able to play a short, beautiful melody yourself!

It’s the perfect way to spend a mindful afternoon, immersing yourself in the authentic sounds and the slow-paced soul of Hangzhou.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
