Zhangjiajie: 2-Day Panoramic National Forest Park Tour

Day 1: The Summit Grandeur
Enter the park at the main gate in Wulingyuan. Take the free shuttle bus to the Bailong Elevator, one of the world’s tallest outdoor lifts, for a rapid and spectacular ascent.

Then explore Yuanjiajie, the area that inspired the Avatar mountains. Key sights include First Bridge Under Heaven, Avatar Hallelujah Mountain, and Back Garden. Enjoy a simple lunch at the summit restaurant.

Afterward, take the shuttle to Tianzi Mountain. Soak in panoramic “sea of stone” views from spots like Helong Park, Imperial Brush Peak, and Tianzi Pavilion. Descend via the cable car or, for a challenge, the scenic 10,000-step trail.

Finish the afternoon at Ten-Mile Gallery, a picturesque valley where you can walk or take a train past natural rock sculptures. Return to Wulingyuan for dinner.

Day 2: The Canyon Adventure
Return to the park and stroll along **Golden Whip Stream**—a gentle 7.5km path following a clear river between towering peaks. Look for the **Golden Whip Rock**, wild monkeys, and “Meeting at the Platform” rock. You need not complete the full trail.

Have a picnic or grab a snack from vendors nearby. Then, take the **Huangshi Village Cable Car** up to **Yellow Stone Fortress**, famous for its 360-degree views. Walk the easy loop trail at the top (1–1.5 hours).

Finally, take the cable car down, catch the shuttle back to the entrance, and depart or enjoy a meal in town.
