From Dubrovnik: Mali Ston Oyster Farm & Boat Experience

Begin with pickup in Dubrovnik and travel along the scenic coastal road to Mali Ston. I, as the proud co-owner and host of Mali Ston Oysters, will personally welcome you and share stories, history, and hidden gems of the region, setting the tone for a truly local and personal experience.

Upon arrival, step aboard our traditional wooden boat, lovingly maintained to preserve the maritime heritage of this area. As we sail across the tranquil waters of Ston Bay, I will introduce you to the unique ecosystem where fresh and salt waters meet, creating the perfect environment for oyster farming, a tradition thriving here for centuries.

We’ll anchor beside the oyster beds where I will personally demonstrate how oysters are cultivated, harvested, and freshly opened. Watch live oyster shucking on board while I explain the delicate art and generations-old techniques of oyster farming in this bay, a true behind-the-scenes glimpse into a local tradition.

Enjoy three freshly opened oysters served straight from the sea, paired with a glass of authentic Pelješac white wine, known for its crispness and minerality, perfectly complementing the oysters’ delicate flavor.

Next, try a traditional buzara of mussels (dagnje) right on the boat, a simple yet flavorful dish made with white wine, garlic, olive oil, and parsley, cooked here for generations. The aroma, combined with the sea breeze and breathtaking views, makes this a truly immersive sensory experience.

The boat tour and tasting last about one hour, offering unforgettable views of Ston’s medieval walls, the surrounding hills, and the glistening oyster beds beneath the surface.

After returning to shore, enjoy one hour of free time to explore the historic town of Ston at your own pace, wander the longest defensive stone walls in Europe, visit the ancient salt pans, or simply enjoy a coffee and soak in the quiet charm of this timeless town.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
