From Arequipa: Colca Canyon and Andean Wildlife Day Trip

Discover the Colca Canyon and Andean wildlife on a day trip from Arequipa. Visit the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, enjoy a traditional lunch in Chivay, and see vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas in the wild.
Begin your day with a hotel pickup in Arequipa and travel by tourist transportation for approximately 3 hours to the town of Chivay. Upon arrival, enjoy a local breakfast before continuing your journey for approximately 1 more hour to the famous Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint.

At Cruz del Cóndor, take time to admire the impressive depth of the Colca Canyon and, depending on weather and natural conditions, observe the majestic Andean condors soaring above the canyon. After enjoying the scenery, begin the return journey with several stops along the route.

Visit the traditional village of Maca, where you can explore its colonial church and main square and observe the traditional clothing worn by local residents. Stop at Antahuilque, where you can admire the impressive agricultural terraces built into the surrounding Andean landscape.

Continue to Yanque, where you will have the option to enjoy the area's volcanic thermal baths for approximately 1 hour. Depending on availability, you may also have the opportunity to participate in activities such as ziplining or kayaking. These activities are optional and are not included in the tour price.

Return to Chivay and enjoy a local lunch featuring traditional dishes from the region. After lunch, begin the journey back to Arequipa, making additional scenic stops along the way.

Stop at the Patapampa Andes Viewpoint, the highest point of the journey, located at approximately 4,910 meters (16,109 feet) above sea level. From here, you can admire panoramic views of the surrounding Andean landscape and volcanoes.

The final stop will be at the Pampa Cañahuas wetlands, part of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you can observe the area's characteristic Andean flora and fauna. Finally, arrive in Arequipa at approximately 5:30 PM. Drop-off will be provided a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
