Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking in the Canyon

Embark on a full-day captain hike through the Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Admire the stunning views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Jinsha River as you hike through the canyon.

Depart from Lijiang and travel along the Jinsha River for about 2 hours before arriving at the Tea Horse Inn in Tiger Leaping Gorge. Along the way, the peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain appears out of the car window, and the scenery of the surrounding valleys gradually unfolds.

Start your hike after warming up, and take in the high mountain canyon, Tibetan sky, and close-up experience of the Jinsha River. Hike from the Chama Inn to the Midway Inn, taking in the beautiful scenery along the way.

As you hike, the river flows in the canyon, the mountain breeze is cool, and the view opens up as you approach the Midway Inn. Take a short rest, take pictures, and then continue the journey.

Depart from the Midway Inn and head towards Mr. Zhang's Inn. The walk of about 1.5 hours is relatively gentle, and the sound of the rushing river gets closer and closer as you pass Longdong Waterfall.

Along the way, the canyon cliffs and the river and rocks are so beautiful that you feel like you are in the middle of nature's painting. Arrive at Mr. Zhang's Inn, just in time to have lunch here to replenish your energy and get ready for the rest of the trip.

After lunch, hike down to the valley floor. This part of the trail takes about 1 hour. Along the way down the road is steep and winding, gradually approaching the bottom of the Tiger Leaping Gorge, where the river roars.

Arrive at the bottom of the valley, where you can have a closer look at this majestic landscape, with natural rock formations and rapids that make you feel shocked by the power of nature. Hike 168 steps back to Mr. Zhang's Inn, which will take about 30 minutes.
