Description
Paddle across Styggevatnet, a lake that is covered in snow until mid-July. Enjoy a delicious lunch with a view of the glacier. Hike on the blue ice of the glacier and explore its crevasses.
Discover the Calving Austdalsbreen Glacier on a kayak and hiking tour. We start our trips here in early July and run them until the end of September once the lake has defrosted.
Paddle across Styggevatnet Lake. On the way, look for icebergs that have calved off the glacier from the days before. After kayaking, stop for some lunch, enjoying the view across the front of the glacier. Start the glacier hike on the blue ice at the glacier front, walking around huge crevasses toward the center of the glacier for a commanding view over the lake and the Jostedalsbreen National Park.
Spend about one and a half to two hours on the glacier, exploring and explaining various features of this natural marvel. After the glacier tour, walk back to the kayaks for the return to civilization.
