Description

Pickup at your Nikko town or Lake Chuzenji hotel. Visit Sessho-seki, the volcanic Nasu highlands, Nasu Onsen Shrine and Komadome Falls.
We pick you up at your hotel in Nikko town or at Lake Chuzenji at 9:00. We drive about 1 hour 30 minutes to the Nasu Highlands, a volcanic area at the foot of Mount Chausu. The day mixes legend, steam vents and mountain views.

Our first stop is Nasu Yumoto. You walk up the short path to Sessho-seki, the Killing Stone of an old fox legend. The stone cracked in two in 2022. The path passes rows of small Jizo statues and steaming ground. Next door is Nasu Onsen Shrine, with a quiet cedar approach.

Late morning we drive up the Nasu Kogen road towards Mount Chausu. In the ropeway season you can ride the Nasu Ropeway near the summit as an option. Outside the season we stop at the road viewpoints instead.

Around 13:00 we have lunch in the highlands. Local beef, cheese dishes and soba are common. Halal is not guaranteed.

In the afternoon we visit Komadome Falls viewpoint, a waterfall in a deep green gorge. Then we stop at Michi-no-Eki Nasu Kogen Yuai no Mori for local crafts.

We drive back to Nikko and arrive at about 17:00.

Your plan is customizable: you can start in the highlands and end at Sessho-seki, skip the craft market, or swap in the Shika-no-yu public bath area or Nasu Heisei no Mori forest walk. All changes stay in the Nasu area and within the tour time.

This is a private tour. Only your group.

If the Sessho-seki path is closed on your date, your driver-guide takes you to a similar place nearby instead. The tour price does not change. If you prefer, we can instead visit the Nasu Heisei no Mori forest trail.
