Description
Take a shuttle from Wānaka to Hāwea and bike back to Wānaka. Ride along the Gladstone Track, running along the front of Lake Hāwea, followed by the river trails all the way back to Wānaka.
This is a self-guided ride. A stunning 34km ride which is great in Summer or Winter. Includes the newly resurfaced Gladstone Track which goes 6km along the shoreline of Lake Hāwea and then joins the Hāwea & Wānaka Trails back to Wānaka. Visit #thatwanakatree before returning your bikes to the pickup point.
The ride is Grade 1-2 (family friendly). These trails cross plateaus with small rolling hills. All the ride is on trails and paths - no roads. You will have the direct contact number of your nzbiketrails host whilst you are riding. Bikes are returned to the pickup point by 1600hrs.
On an e-bike this ride takes approximately 2 hours of actual riding so you have plenty of time to stop and enjoy the views and stops along the way. After just over an hour of riding enjoy a stop at the Pembroke Patisserie in Albert Town (closes at 2pm) for coffee and cakes or even lunch.
nzbiketrails recommends e-bikes. This will ensure that your group stays together and fully enjoys the experience. We do also have Regular and Gravel Bikes available. All of our bikes are designed and set-up for the trails. nzbiketrails only uses well maintained Sinch e-bikes (an NZ award winning brand designed specifically for NZ trails) and Specialized Rockhopper Regular bikes. We also have iLabb Gravel Bikes for very experienced Gravel riders.
Your nzbiketrails luxury transport and host will shuttle you from Wānaka to Hāwea provide you some local history, recommendations and a detailed overview of your recommended route along the way.
Once you are riding you can ride at your own pace, enjoying many stops along to way, until you meet nzbiketrails back in Wānaka at the end of the ride.

Please meet the nzbiketrails branded luxury vehicle at the Loading Bay outside 103 Ardmore Street (Wanaka's i-Site).
If you need to park your vehicle their is free parking available on either side of Pembroke Park - the sides parallel to the lakeside and adjacent to the park. Parking is a 5-10 minute walk away from the pickup point. Please ensure that you leave plenty of time to park your car as the transport cannot wait as this may impact other guests enjoyment of the day.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
