Country: Estonia
Duration:
06:00 hours
Description
Discover the dramatic coastline, cliffs, and waterfalls of northern Estonia on a day trip from Tallinn. Visit the Rummu submerged quarry, explore Paldiski, and see the Pakri coastal cliffs.
Begin your tour with a drive out of Tallinn to the beautiful seaside in Suurupi. Hike along forest trails and the rocky coastline. Visit an abandoned military base, once part of Peter the Great’s Naval Fortress, and explore its tunnels and massive concrete structures.
On your way to Keila-Joa, ask your guide to stop at Türisalu cliffs for a viewpoint. Thereafter, have a stop at Keila waterfall, which is one of the most powerful waterfalls in Estonia. See the manor house right across the river and the beautiful park with its bridges. If you are more into nature than history, ask your tour guide to make a stop at the small but charming Treppoja waterfall, only a few kilometers away.
Drive through the city of Paldiski, which still has a strong industrial feel inherited from the Soviet times. Have lunch at a local restaurant or cafe. Optional – ask your tour guide to stop at a local shop that sells everything from everyday groceries to golden jewelry, household electronics, and local souvenirs.
Walk along the dramatic Pakri cliffs and enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea. Take photos of the red lighthouse, standing tall above the coast. If you wish, walk further to Pakri waterfall. In winter, the waterfall freezes and creates a magical ice wall.
As the last stop on your tour, visit the submerged quarry in Rummu. With the crystal clear water around the ghostly houses, Rummu offers endless photo opportunities. Climb up the sandy hills or touch the freezing water from the shore. On a hot day, you can even go for a quick swim in the lake.
