30 min trip with your own dog team to experience the enjoyment of running along the lakeside of Meltosjärvi. Tour includes a kennel visit and a warm drink at the musher's camp.
The tour begins and ends at Matara Creek Kennel, located in the peaceful village of Meltosjärvi—just an hour's scenic drive from Rovaniemi. Here, surrounded by the beauty of Lapland, you'll be introduced to our unique pack of sled dogs, many of whom are rehomed working dogs given a second chance at life. Our mission is not just adventure, but also compassion: we place strong focus on each dog's well-being, ensuring they live healthy, enriched lives in a supportive, loving environment.

During the experience, your guide will share the inspiring stories behind the dogs—how they came to us, how we train them from puppyhood to adulthood, and how we adapt our routines to suit the individual needs of each dog. You'll see firsthand how our dogs thrive through structure, care, and meaningful connection.

The tour includes a 30-minute sled ride along the lakeside trails of Meltosjärvi, where you can either self-drive or sit comfortably while one of our experienced mushers leads the team. Afterwards, you'll warm up with a hot drink at the musher's camp and enjoy a guided visit to the kennel. You'll also have the chance to interact with the dogs, play with puppies, and take beautiful photos to remember your experience.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
