Description

Embark on a timeless journey to the heart of the Poitevin marsh and let yourself be charmed by the beauty of Maillezais. This excursion promises a day full of discoveries and emotions.
Morning: Immerse yourself in history and nature

9:45 am: Meet in the parking lot of the Abbey of Maillezais.

10:00 am: Hop on a traditional boat for a peaceful, guided ride on the canals of the Marais Poitevin, departing from the Abbey's jetty.

11:00 a.m.: Guided tour of the Abbey of Saint Pierre de Maillezais, a masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, and discover its fascinating history.

Afternoon: Bike ride and local culture discovery

12:15 pm: Rent a bike and set off for a guided ride on a bike path towards the traditional village of Maillé.

1:15 pm: Lunch on the quays of the port of Maillé, savoring fresh and tasty local products. The typical picnic of the Marais Poitevin is prepared by Stéphane, the caterer of Damvix (aperitif and wine are extra. Take a good look when choosing the number of participants at the bottom when booking)

Main course: Vendée cured ham with a mogette bean salad
Cheese: Tender cow's milk from the last dairy cooperative in the Marais Poitevin

4:30 pm: Tasting of a La Cibulle abbey beer.

5:30 pm: End of the tour in the parking lot of the Abbey of Maillezais.

When should I book?

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.


Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
