Begin your journey in Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and one of the country’s most sacred cities. Next, head to Jvari Monastery, perched high on a hill above Mtskheta. Finally, explore Uplistsikhe, one of the oldest rock-hewn settlements in the Caucasus, dating back to the early Iron Age. Carved directly into sandstone cliffs, this ancient city once functioned as a major religious, political, and trade center along the Silk Road. Explore ancient tunnels and streets, pagan temples, early Christian basilicas, a rock-carved theater, residential halls, and wine storage areas.
