Description

Trace Georgia’s soul from Zhinvali’s blue waters to Gergety’s heights. Discover Ananuri, Gudauri, and Stepantsminda on a mountain journey that will truly steal your breath away.
1. Zhinvali Reservoir: The Turquoise Mirror
Our first stop is the stunning Zhinvali Reservoir. This isn't your average lake; the water is a deep, surreal turquoise that looks like a painting against the lush green hills. It’s the perfect place to shake off the city bustle, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and snap that first "I’m really in Georgia" photo.

2. Ananuri Fortress: A Leap Back in Time
Next, we pull up to the Ananuri Fortress, a 17th-century castle complex that has guarded the Aragvi River valley for centuries. You’ll explore the stone towers and the Church of the Assumption, famous for its intricate facade carvings. Standing on the battlements, you can almost hear the echoes of the Eristavi dukes who once ruled these lands.

3. Gudauri Friendship Monument: The Balcony of the Caucasus
As we climb higher, we reach the Gudauri Friendship Monument (also known as the Treaty of Georgievsk Monument). Perched on the edge of a "devil's valley" cliff, this colorful mosaic structure offers a 360-degree panorama of the Caucasus Mountains. It is a dizzying, beautiful spot where paragliders often dance in the wind above the abyss.

4. Stepantsminda: The Gateway to the Peaks
We then descend into Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), a charming high-mountain town tucked at the base of Mount Kazbek. It’s the pulse of the region—a place where life moves slower, the cows roam the streets, and the giant peaks tower over you in every direction. It’s the perfect spot to refuel and feel the local hospitality.

5. Gergeti Trinity Church: The Crown of Georgia
The grand finale is a journey up to the Gergeti Trinity Church. Sitting at an elevation of 2,170 meters, this 14th-century stone church is perhaps the most iconic image of Georgia. Whether we’re framed by the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbek or shrouded in dramatic clouds, the sense of peace here is absolute. It’s a moment of pure, silent wonder.
