Kazbegi: Ananuri Castle, Gudauri & Gergeti Trinity Church

**Departure from Tbilisi:** we start our day early, preferably around 8 AM, or 9 AM to make the most of our day trip.

**Drive to Kazbegi:** The drive to Kazbegi takes around 3 3.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Enjoy the scenic drive through the Georgian countryside.

1. **Gudauri Viewpoint:** Continue your journey, and stop at the Gudauri Viewpoint. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

2. **Gergeti Trinity Church:** Visit Gergeti Trinity Church, one of the iconic landmarks in Kazbegi. You can hike to the church or take a 4x4 vehicle if you prefer not to walk. The view of Mount Kazbek from here is stunning.

3. **Optional Hike:** If you're up for it and have the time, consider hiking to the Gveleti waterfall for more adventurous exploration. This can take 1-2 hours, so plan accordingly.

**Return to Tbilisi:** Start your journey back to Tbilisi in the late afternoon.

**Late Lunch:**

4. **Restaurant Guda, Pasanauri:** On your way back, make a stop at Restaurant Guda in Pasanauri for a late lunch. Pasanauri is known for its delicious khinkali (Georgian dumplings), and Restaurant Guda is a great place to try them.

5. **Ananuri Fortress:** On your way to Kazbegi, we'll stop at Ananuri Fortress. Explore the medieval fortress complex and enjoy the picturesque views of the Zhinvali Reservoir.
