Visit the first capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, which is a the city museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Uplistsikhe (Fortress of God) cut out of rock. Learn about the ancient civilization that lived there.

The tour will take you to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of the 11th century – one of the four greatest Cathedrals. It is the largest historic church complex in Georgia among those that survived. Through the centuries it represented the religious center of Christian Georgia. The Robe of Jesus and the Coat of St. Elias the Prophet are buried in Svetitskhoveli. The 6th century Jvari Monastery is located at the tributaries of rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi, on the top of a rocky mountain. It is included in the list of World Cultural Inheritance Monuments. King Mirian III erected a wooden cross on this place, which later was worshipped by the Christians from Caucasus.

Then head to Uplistsikhe, the city carved out of rock, one of the oldest settlements of the Caucasus. There are archaeological monuments kept around Uplistsikhe, of which the oldest one belongs to the Early Bronze Age and Mtkvar-Araksi culture.
