Your driver will collect you from your hotel in the morning and take you across the German border to Obersalzberg. Begin with an optional 40–45-minute self-guided visit to the Obersalzberg Documentation Center and its preserved underground WWII bunkers. The museum provides an audio guide with a headset, helping you understand the exhibition and its important history as you explore.
Continue to the Eagle’s Nest bus station. As private vehicles are not permitted on the mountain road, board the designated shared bus for the spectacular journey to the upper station. Walk through the 124-metre tunnel before taking the historic brass-lined elevator directly into the Eagle’s Nest.
Spend approximately two to three hours exploring independently at 1,834 metres. Visit the historic building, see the terrace exhibition, enjoy a short mountain walk, and photograph the panoramic Alpine views. The Eagle’s Nest was built for Nazi political representation and official functions, not as Hitler’s private home.
After descending by elevator and bus, meet your driver and enjoy an included lunch in the Obersalzberg area or Berchtesgaden. Afterwards, explore Berchtesgaden’s historic centre at your own pace before returning to your Salzburg hotel.
