Stunning views from the Dresden Palace Tower (Hausmannsturm):
Dresden a different way: Treat yourself to the most magnificent view of Dresden's old town.
The Palace Tower (Hausmannsturm) reaches a height of just over 328 feet (100 meters) and is the tallest tower in Dresden's Old Town.
Instead of a dragon, what awaits you at the top of the Castle Tower is a majestic 360° panoramic view of the historic Old Town, offering a perfect view of the Frauenkirche, the Semperoper, and the Elbe Valley landscape.
Even the climb to the top is an experience in itself. The octagonal tower is the oldest part of Dresden's Residenzschloss (Royal Palace). Inside, you can marvel at the mechanism of the old tower clock, among other things.
Take in the vibrantly colored paintings in the palace courtyard, which depict scenes such as the Queen of Sheba's visit to King Solomon at the Royal Palace in Jerusalem or the Three Wise Men's visit to the Christ Child in the Bethlehem stable.
Once you reach the top, far from the hustle and bustle, you can enjoy the view across the magnificent Elbe Valley landscape, stretching as far as the peaks of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains to the east and Meissen to the west.
The observation deck offers the most beautiful backdrops for your vacation photos and selfies.
Perhaps only flying would be more beautiful… Our special insider tip for your visit to Dresden.
