Bastian loves books – they are his refuge from a lonely everyday life. When he discovers a mysterious book, he is drawn into the world of Phantásia. It is threatened by the all-devouring Nothingness, and only a human child can save the Child Empress. Together with Atréju and the lucky dragon Fuchur, Bastian faces will-o'-the-wisps, rock biters, and racing snails – and discovers the power to change his life and Phantásien.
