Description

Immerse yourself in Leipzig's mix of history, street art and youthful city flair. This tour takes you to iconic spots, hidden alleys, and real Leipzig favorites.
A varied tour of Leipzig awaits, taking you from the bustling main train station to the cultural heart of the city. The starting point is Leipzig's main train station, one of the largest in Europe and an impressive example of classical railway architecture. From here, you'll stroll through Nikolaistraße, past traditional trade and exhibition buildings, and the artfully designed Speckshof, an outstanding Art Nouveau ensemble.

Your path continues to the Nikolai Church, the historic site of the Peaceful Revolution of 1989. Just a few steps away, the spacious Augustusplatz opens up – framed by the modern Gewandhaus, the traditional Leipzig Opera House, and the iconic buildings of Leipzig University, whose Paulinum commemorates the former university church.

Next, you'll head to the elegant Old Stock Exchange, a baroque gem from the 17th century, reflecting the city's trading history. Right next door are the market square and the Old Town Hall, one of the most beautiful Renaissance town halls in Germany. Here you'll experience the pulse of the old town, surrounded by lively cafés, historic facades, and the hustle and bustle of Leipzig's market.

Just a few steps away is the Bach statue, which honors the composer who worked in Leipzig for over 25 years. Behind it rises the St. Thomas Church, home to the world-famous St. Thomas Choir and the place where Johann Sebastian Bach worked. Even if access for groups is restricted, the outdoor space impressively conveys the centuries-old musical tradition of the place.

Finally, you can take a leisurely stroll back to the marketplace – perfect for wrapping up the tour with a coffee, regional specialties, or further exploration of Leipzig's city center.
