Mendoza: The Mate Experience and Ritual in the Park with Locals

To understand Argentines, you don't have to go to a museum: you have to go to the park to drink mate. We invite you to experience this tradition exactly as we locals do every day: outdoors, on the grass, under the shade of the trees, and in a circle where conversations flow without haste.

We'll meet at a famous outdoor spot (such as the iconic General San Martin Park) to spread out our picnic blanket and begin the ritual. You'll learn the history of this ancient drink, the anatomy of the mate gourd, and the physics behind the perfect serving: how to place the yerba, take care of the bombilla, and maintain the water temperature so that it doesn't burn.

We'll hold a guided sensory tasting, sampling different styles of yerba (organic, blended, and smoked) paired with typical "facturas" or lard biscuits from a local bakery. Beyond the technical preparation, you'll experience the true social code of mate: respecting the turn, the meaning of saying "thank you," and the warmth of sharing stories among travelers from all over the world.
