Description
Have you ever tried the drink of the gods*? Mead (honey wine) is a very diverse drink, from fruity to tart and even spicy, offering much more than just "sweet."
*according to Norse mythology
Mead tastings bring enjoyment and conviviality right into your own home.
After the welcome, the mead guardian (that's what we call our tasters) hands out clear evaluation sheets. Water and neutral bread should be provided during the tasting to neutralize the taste. A brief introduction shows how a tasting is conducted: prepare the glass, observe the color and clarity, smell calmly, and taste in small sips. The focus is on personal perception.
Then the journey begins in the glass. With each sample, there are further worlds of taste: What is the first impression? What nuances can be perceived? The guided tasting takes place in a clear sequence and is suitable for both beginners and advanced tasters. Samples are tasted one after the other, always accompanied by background information on the varieties, with water and bread in between to neutralize the palate. The evaluation sheet helps you record your own impressions of the respective mead variety. There is always room for discussion among participants or with our mead expert. A total of 10–12 Metwabe varieties await your discovery. Best of all: You can keep the bottles from the tasting, and you can continue to drink your favorite mead in a relaxed atmosphere after the tasting.
We have prepared several tasting packages for our tastings (e.g., suitable for the season). All packages are clearly presented on the website and can be compared there at your leisure. During the tasting, there are helpful tips such as: serving temperature (in summer, for example, on ice; for winter, there is also mulled mead), storage of opened bottles, or simple pairing ideas (not every snack goes well with every mead).
At the end, the tasting evening ends on a warm and inspiring note, the last questions can be asked, and then our mead guardian says goodbye.
