Day 1: Arrival in Accra
Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, be greeted by a representative and transferred to your hotel in Accra. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, settling in and exploring the city.
Day 2: Aburi Botanical Gardens and Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm
Begin your day with a visit to the Aburi Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the gardens with your guide, learning about various plant species, their origins, and uses.
Next, head to the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm, the first cocoa farm in Ghana. Discover the history of cocoa in Ghana and learn about the plantation process from sowing to drying.
Day 3: Assin Manso Slave River and Cape Coast Castle
Travel to Cape Coast, stopping at the Assin Manso Slave River Site, a significant part of the history of slavery. Learn about the site where slaves took their last bath before being sold.
Continue to the Cape Coast Castle, the youngest of the three slave castles in Ghana. Explore the castle and learn about its role in the transatlantic slave trade.
Day 4: Social Impact Activity and Wellness Experience
Engage with the Cape Coast School for the Blind as part of a social impact initiative. Participate in a naming ceremony, drumming, and dancing experience.
End the day with a wellness activity at your hotel, such as beach relaxation or a spa and massage session.
Day 5: Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park
Visit the Elmina Castle, the oldest European building below the Sahara, built in 1482 by the Portuguese. Learn about its history as a slave dungeon.
Next, head to Kakum National Park, the second-largest national park in Ghana. Take a 20-minute hike through the park and walk on a 350-meter-long suspension bridge, 11 to 40 meters above the ground.
Day 6: Free Day in Accra
Enjoy a free day in Accra. Relax, read a book, walk around the hotel, visit the beach, have a massage/spa session, or engage in any wellness activity or experience you like.
Day 7: Accra City Tour
Begin your city tour with a visit to the WEB DuBois Memorial Centre, the home of the Father of Pan Africanism. Explore the site, which contains his personal belongings and a mausoleum for him and his wife.
Next, visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where the first president of Ghana declared the country’s independence. Explore the museum, which houses his personal belongings and the mausoleum where he and his wife were buried.
Stop at the Arts and Crafts Market to purchase some Ghanaian-made and inspired arts and crafts to take as souvenirs back home.
Your final visit will be the Independence Square, also known as the Black Star Square. It is a vast area built for national gatherings in 1961 by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, that can host about 30,000 people. It has other monuments like the Independence Arc, the Monument of Liberation, and the Independence Gate.
Day 8: Departure
Depending on your time of departure, you will have some time for last-minute shopping and packing.
