Description

Become Plato’s student with this small-group, highly interactive, alternative workshop for beginners on philosophy, featuring dialogues and debates at the place where Philosophy was born.
Join the authentic experience of an ancient Greek philosophical quest. Led by a facilitator with a background in Classical Studies, this workshop will allow you to apply Plato's Philosophy in modern life, through exploration of his famous ''Allegory of the Cave'' in a truly experiential workshop.

Begin with a short exploration of Plato’s Academy Digital Museum (free entrance), where you must gather specific information about Plato's life and works and his Academy. Then, walk through the archeological park of the Academy and find yourself on the ruins of the ancient Gymnasium.

Reveal the information you gathered about Plato, and discuss how it was to be a philosopher back in ancient Athens. Right after, participate in dialogues, discovering the deeper meanings of the Allegory of the Cave.
Listen as your instructor uses the Socrates' maieutic (midwife) art, as well as the platonic dialogue techniques, to facilitate exchanging opinions, beliefs, experiences, and views, just as the ancient Greek philosophers did.

In the end, you will participate in a short debate game, speaking on a modern life case study, based on Plato's opinion of how a philosopher should act.
