Rhodes: Profitis Ilias Sunset Hike with Snacks Sunset Hike with Pickup and Drop-Off

This easy hiking tour will give you the chance to admire the sunset colors of the sky from the 3rd highest mountain of the island. Even in the warmest days of summer, hikers are sure to not be disappointed in these beautiful mountains.
Onboard a private coach, you will set off for the inland part of Rhodes, towards the central-western area. After a picturesque (approx, one hour from Rhodes town) drive, we reach Salakos, a beautiful agricultural village, located on the foothills of the mountain Profitis Ilias. After arriving, you will be invited to discover the third-biggest mountain of the island.

The trails ascent as its slopes gradually, with the well-maintained trails also suitable for beginner hikers due to its quality. Most of the hike is under the shade of ilex trees, pine trees, and some olive trees. During the uphill, the views are magnificent towards the Aegean Sea, the coastline of Turkey and some nearby islands. After having arrived at the meadow, you can admire the famous “Elafos and Elafina” (male and female deer in Greek), and former Italian buildings built by Italian Colonists on 1929 and 1932 following an Alpine Style of architecture.

You will also visit the “Villa de Vecci” house of the former Italian Governor of Rhodes, and the Byzantine Church of Profitis Elias. Following a short break and a snack, you will begin your descent back to Salakos. At the appropriate point, time will be given to admire the sun going down in the Aegean Sea behind the miniature island of Halki. After arriving back in Salakos, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
