Duration: 04:30 hours

Description

Get better acquainted with the landscape, people, and produce of Grenada on a tour focused on the island's spice production. Visit different estates to learn more about spices such as mace, cinnamon, and cloves.
Benefit from pickup at your hotel or the cruise ship terminal, and then drive in air-conditioned comfort along the west coast to the fishing town of Gouyave. Pass a nutmeg factory where most of the island's spices are processed for export.

Make your way down a bumpy road to the Dougaldston Estate, and step back in time as the spice plantation comes into view. Visit the building where trays of mace, cocoa, cinnamon, pimento, or cloves are left to dry, depending on the season. Get invited to scratch 'n' sniff the leaves of various plants and guess what they are.

Continue uphill to the Belvedere Plantation, nestled in the cool climate of the mountains where bananas are grown. Travel through the lush landscape to take souvenir photos of the forest reserve and crater lake of Grand Etang National Park. Encounter native Mona monkeys, unique to Grenada in the western hemisphere. End with a stop at the spectacular cascades of Annandale Falls.
