From the small, original campsite, a city was born, with her narrow streets, proud towers, busy piers.
Genoese started becoming rich and powerful, conquering the world of the time and leaving traces which can be found till today.
This led to the building of magnificent palaces, designed to display - but not too much! - the might of the ruling families.
