The activity begins with a relaxing session while sipping warm, authentic Jogja tea. Here, an experienced local instructor will introduce you to a brief history of Yogyakarta gamelan and the noble philosophy behind each instrument—how music is not just about notes, but also about harmony, feeling, and togetherness.

Next, you'll be taken on a tour of the various instruments. You'll learn to distinguish the functions of each instrument, from the Saron and Demung, which play the melody, the Kenong and Gong, which maintain the rhythm, to the Kendang, which acts as the tempo leader.
