Catania, “six times destroyed and six times reborn”, is a town full of history and color. Explore the old black lava stone streets of the city and the mythological villages of Trezza and Acicastello
Start with a pick-up from your place or port of call at your convenience. Visit Catania's downtown starting with the u Liotru (Catania’s emblem, an elephant-shaped artifact carved out during the Roman era), the cathedral, Palazzo degli Elefanti, the fish market, Collegiata Church, the four corners, Via dei Crociferi with its unique Baroque heritage (UNESCO), Castello Ursino and the Benedictine monastery.
Have lunch on your own with a restaurant suggestion. In the afternoon, walk in the beautiful villages of Acitrezza and Acicastello, where according to Homer’s Odyssey (6th century B.C.), Odysseus passed through the seaside villages to get back to Ithaca.
In Acitrezza, you will see the amazing huge sea stacks that cyclops Polyphemus threw toward Odysseus's ships to wreck them. Drop-off will be at your place of accommodation or port of call.
