Explore the highest volcano in Europe on a full-day tour of Mount Etna and the Alcantara River from Taormina. Visit a lava cave in safety and marvel at different volcanic landscapes, including craters and curious rock formations.
Depart Taormina and journey to the Rifugio Sapienza on Mount Etna. Learn the history of the volcano and visit sites of its last eruptions.
Choose to trek along the nature paths of the Parco dell’Etna or ride the cable car to an altitude of 2,504 meters and continue by 4WD minibus to the Torre del Filosofo. Get stunning views of the scenery stretching down to the sea and admire the craters and historical lava flows that characterize the landscape.
Return to the Rifugio Sapienza to explore a lava cave in safety. Continue down the mountain and stop at the organic farm of Zafferana to sample local produce, including honey, wine and oil.
Explore the different landscapes of the Alcantara River. Walk down small paths, past cultivated fields, and see the natural pools and waterfalls of the Gurne dell'Alcantara. Discover the ruins of Francavilla Castle, and continue to get up close to different basalt and lava formations.
