Discover the high altitude wonders of Mount Etna’s southern slope on this epic, guided climb. Start the adventure from 2500 meters above sea level at the site’s cable car arrival terminal and learn about the fascinating 2001 Eruption while admiring the great Valle del Bove depression which deeply marks the eastern side of the volcano.

As you climb, soak up once-in-a-lifetime views of the mountainous scenery and the sprawling countryside below. Highlights of the tour include the Summit Craters, the Craters of 2002, the Cisternazza, the Piano del Lago, and the ancient Montagnola Crater. At the end of an unforgettable experience, descend from the summit area of the volcano towards the cable car terminal which takes you back down.

The excursion is carried out and adapted to the meteorological and volcanic conditions of the day, and respects the safety of the participants at all times.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• After a short briefing the excursion will begins with a cable car ride up to 2500 meters
• Given the continuous and unpredictable evolution of the volcanic activity, the excursions could undergo variations, or, in extreme cases, be cancelled, at the discretion of the guide for safety reasons
• Excursion is for moderately trained hikers
• The excursion is also possible for children aged ten and up
• To avoid any risks you should be in good health and inform your guide before the hike of any medical issues that may be impacted by the change in elevation throughout the hike
• The guide is entitled to stop the excursion for any reason that could compromise the safety and therefore the physical integrity of an individual or of the entire group
• Necessary gear: trekking boots with high socks, trekking poles, rock helmet (free rental), extra t-shirt, winter clothes, backpack (10-20L), water, snack and packed lunch
• It is recommended you wear long pants, and bring gloves, a hat, sunglasses

When should I book?

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.


Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
