Description

No trip to Italy is complete without a visit to Pompeii. Enjoy a private car trip from Rome down to Pompeii and witness a city immortalised by a volcanic eruption. Take some relaxing time out as well to visit Sorrento, the gateway to the Amalfi coast.
Meet your driver at a convenient meeting point in the heart of Rome (details will be provided upon reservation). Once seated comfortably you will leave Rome behind and depart for Pompeii, the once prosperous Roman city which met it's fate in October, AD 79 when Mt. Vesuvius erupted and the entire surrounding population was engulfed with burning pyroclastic flow and covered in ash.

On your tour, witness a moment of terror frozen in time, people in death postures and ruins unchanged from almost 2,000-years ago. Your expert archaeologist guide will walk you through the ancient streets, whereabouts perfectly conserved ancient bakeries, shops, stalls, private and communal residences, public baths and brothels remain. You will see plaster casts of the unfortunate Pompeiians who were immortalized on that tragic day.

Upon conclusion of the guided tour, make your way to Sorrento, the gateway to the stunning Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and picture postcard perfect towns nestled into steep, white, limestone cliffs. In Sorrento you will have free time to stroll around, take in the breathtaking sea views, explore the specialty shops and boutiques, and sample Limoncello, a world-renowned specialty liquor made by local artisans from the organic lemons which can only be harvested in this region. As your afternoon winds down, you'll join your driver once again for the return journey to Rome.
