Go straight to the heart of Ancient Rome by wandering through notable sites such the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill – the largest archaeological area in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bring your kids to experience together over two thousand years of history and relive the sensations of the fascinating and long-lived Roman Empire, the predecessor of European civilisation.

Start with both the 1st and 2nd levels of the Colosseum to get a full understanding of this iconic monument. Relive the thrilling spectacle of the gladiators, slaves and wild animals who fought to the death right here almost two thousand years ago through the colourful account of your guide. Hear about why such brutal fights were staged, how the crowd voted, how the protagonists lived and trained and how much the gladiators were paid. Find out how such an immense structure was built and how the complex back-stage mechanisms and underground tunnels worked. Climb to the top tiers and absorb the evocative atmosphere of this unique and ancient venue. Feel the immensity of Ancient Rome with all its contradictions

Visit the Roman Forum where you'll get to feel what day-to-day life in ancient times was like. Immerse yourself back to the days when this was the busy and bustling centre of the largest city on earth, peopled by the rich and the poor – doctors, sailors, priests and prostitutes of all nationalities. Learn about the vibrant lifestyle of the ancient Romans, their brightly coloured clothes and richly decorated homes. Stroll along the Sacred Road in the footsteps of the ancient Roman citizens, past temples, market-places, villas and triumphal arches. Discover the secrets behind the power and longevity of the Ancient Roman civilisation.

Finally, travel towards Palatine Hill. This inspirational spot is where the history of Rome began. Legend has it that this is where the twins Romulus and Remus were raised by the she-wolf and the foundations of Ancient Rome were laid. It was also here that the domination of the Roman Empire came to an end. Learn why it was mostly the rich and influential who lived on the Palatine Hill, see the remains of the glorious emperors’ villas, and take in the spectacular views they enjoyed over the chariot races on Circus Maximus.
