Begin your day with a journey to the Martha Brae River, where you’ll glide down the river on a hand-crafted 30-foot bamboo raft. As you float along, you’ll be surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, listen to your raft captain’s stories about local folklore (including the legend of Martha Brae), and enjoy the calm, slow pace of the river.

Along the way, if the water is calm, you’ll have opportunities to swim or refresh in the water. Visit Miss Martha’s Herb Garden to learn about Jamaica’s medicinal plants and enjoy the relaxing environment at Rafter’s Village — restrooms, souvenir shops, refreshing drinks, and beautifully landscaped grounds enrich the experience.

As evening falls, the tour shifts to something even more magical: the Luminous Lagoon (aka Glistening Waters) in Falmouth. This natural lagoon is home to microscopic organisms (dinoflagellates) that glow when disturbed, creating an ethereal blue-green light in the water.

Boat glides across the lagoon and swimming are included (very safe and shallow in areas), letting you see your movements leave trails of glowing light across the water. A guide will share the science, culture, and folklore behind this fascinating natural phenomenon.
