Begin in Peace Memorial Park, the heart of Hiroshima’s message of remembrance and peace. Explore the Peace Memorial Museum and Children’s Peace Monument, reflecting on the city’s resilience.
From there, walk to Shukkeien Garden, a traditional landscape garden with miniature landscapes of mountains, valleys, and rivers — a peaceful contrast to the morning. Continue to Hiroshima Castle, rebuilt after the war, surrounded by moats and cherry trees.
In the afternoon, take a tram and short ferry ride to Miyajima Island, where you’ll walk to the famous Itsukushima Shrine with its floating red torii gate, one of Japan’s most photographed landmarks.
