At Waseda Shrine in Hiroshima, dress in traditional attire and learn how to perform a sacred dance as a shrine maiden. You can also experience the sacred ritual of Shinto prayer as a Shinto priest.
Visit the historic Waseda Shrine in Hiroshima, and experience a Shinto ritual by dressing up in the traditional attire of a miko or a shinto priest. Learn about the customs and traditions of the Shinto religion from a local priest.

Meet the priest at the shrine and learn about the history of the shrine and the customs of the Shinto religion. Then, enter the shrine and change into a miko costume to experience the miko dance. Watch a demonstration of the dance and learn the steps to perform it yourself.

If you are a man, change into a shinto priest costume and learn the customs of the shinto religion. Afterward, experience the prayer ritual. After the ritual, go to the main hall of the shrine and offer a tamagushi to the gods.

After the ritual, take a photo in the shrine grounds and make your own omamori, a traditional Japanese amulet.

※ If you have tabi socks and a koshi-himo (waist cord), please bring them. If you do not have them, we will provide them for you.
Women can participate in the Miko (shrine maiden) experience, while men can take part in the Kannushi (Shinto priest) experience.
※Participation is possible as long as the costume size fits.
Up to 4 participants can join at the same time.

When should I book?

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.


Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
