Visit Imai Kinpaku, a long-established gold leaf maker founded in Kanazawa in 1898, and experience one of the city’s signature traditional crafts.

Begin with a short introduction to Kanazawa gold leaf and discover how a sheet only around 1/10,000 mm thick is handled. Watch a clear visual demonstration before trying the delicate application process yourself.

Choose from an available tumbler, pouch, tote bag, or crossbody bag, then select a design for your creation. Carefully apply the gold leaf to your chosen item as the store staff demonstrate each stage and assist you throughout the process. No previous craft or artistic experience is required.

Once your item is finished, take it home on the same day as a personal and practical souvenir of Kanazawa.

If you select the option with gold leaf soft-serve, finish your visit by placing delicate gold leaf onto the ice cream yourself before enjoying it. Workshop participants can also receive a 10% discount on eligible products at the main store.
