Kyoto Calligraphy Workshop: Design Your Kanji Logo on Washi

Begin your creative journey in a calm studio in Kyoto’s Fushimi area, where light, shadow, and brush rhythm meet. Guided by a bilingual designer specializing in calligraphy and spatial design, you’ll explore how line balance and negative space form the essence of Japanese aesthetics.

Start with basic brush exercises to feel the movement and flow of ink. Then, choose one meaningful Kanji from a curated list—such as Harmony, Dream, or Light—each carrying a unique energy and meaning. Practice on sample paper, then create your final artwork on a textured washi postcard. The washi absorbs each stroke beautifully, capturing both strength and calmness in your lines.

After completing your piece, it will be carefully scanned and refined into a modern digital logo, preserving the personality of your brushwork. You’ll receive your digital logo data (PNG/PDF, SVG on request) within 24 hours, while your original postcard will be sealed with a seasonal stamp and mailed directly from Kyoto—a physical and digital keepsake of your creative expression.

The session lasts about 1.5 hours and is conducted in small groups of up to four participants for a quiet, meditative atmosphere. English and Japanese support are both available.

The studio is located on the 3rd floor of MOMOYAMA HILLS, within the covered Fushimi-Momoyama shopping street. Look for the “MEDICAL DENTAL ESTE” sign at the entrance and walk up the stairs to the top floor. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early, as there is no elevator.
