Begin by learning how to use the tools, understand Japanese characters, and practice the basic strokes. Focus mainly on Kanji, starting with five representative strokes that form the foundation of Kanji writing. Watch as the calligrapher demonstrates the techniques right in front of you.

Next, choose your favorite word or a Kanji character you wish to try. Popular choices include “愛 = Love,” “幸 = Happiness,” and “忍者 = Ninja.” Once you decide on a Kanji, receive a personalized model from the calligrapher, who will patiently teach you key points for writing it beautifully.

Then, create your final piece. From a variety of options—such as a folding fan, a decorative board, or a washi postcard—select your favorite and produce a memorable artwork to take home.

At the end, have a commemorative photo taken together with your completed artwork.
