Description

Learn the basics of iaido, the Japanese art of drawing the sword, in central Nagoya. Wear a practice uniform over your clothes and experience safe, guided samurai movements with a senior instructor.
Experience the spirit of the samurai through iaido, the traditional Japanese martial art of drawing and handling the sword with focus, respect, and calm movement.

This small-group experience takes place in central Nagoya and is designed for visitors who want to enjoy a safe and memorable introduction to Japanese martial culture. No previous martial arts experience is required.

At the beginning of the session, the instructor will introduce the basic meaning and etiquette of iaido. You will then wear a practice uniform over your own clothes, subject to size availability, and learn how to stand, bow, hold the practice sword, and perform simple movements under careful guidance.

The experience uses safe practice equipment and is not a sparring or combat activity. The focus is on posture, concentration, breathing, and the beauty of controlled movement. It is suitable for guests who are interested in samurai culture, Japanese history, martial arts, or unique cultural experiences during their stay in Nagoya.

This special experience is planned for visitors coming to Nagoya during the Asian Games period. The session is short, accessible, and easy to join while sightseeing in the city.

The activity is operated by Japan Budo Tourism Organization, a Nagoya-based company specializing in Japanese martial arts and cultural tourism experiences.
