Description
Discover Hokkaido's natural beauty on a day trip from Sapporo. Visit Asahiyama Zoo, Shirahige Waterfall, and Shirogane Blue Pond, and explore the Forest Elf Terrace or Tomita Farm.
Begin your adventure with a scenic drive to Asahiyama Zoo, where you’ll have ample time to explore the grounds at your own pace. Discover the zoo’s “natural habitat” enclosures, which let you get close to animals without feeling separated by barriers. Don’t miss the polar bears—watch them swim in a glass-fronted pool—or the seasonal penguin parade. You’ll also find Hokkaido-native species like red pandas and foxes, living in forest-like spaces that mimic their wild homes.
From the zoo, head to the Ken & Marry Spot for a drive-by view. Take in the iconic Hokkaido landscape (rolling hills, dairy farms, and distant mountains) comfortably from the bus, no need to disembark.
Next, travel to Shirahige Waterfall. Here, stretch your legs with a short walk to the waterfall’s viewing platform, surrounded by lush forests and fresh mountain air. Following the waterfall, drive to Shirogane Blue Pond—a photogenic spot famous for its crystal-blue water (caused by mineral deposits). Snap photos and admire the pond’s unique color, which shines especially bright in soft light.
Your next stop is either the Forest Elf Terrace or Tomita Farm (season-dependent). From June 15 to September 15, 2025, this will be Tomita Farm—where you can wander flower fields bursting with lavender, sunflowers, and cosmos. For all other times, visit the Forest Elf Terrace, a whimsical area with fairy-tale wooden cabins and figurines.
Once the final stop ends, begin the return drive to Sapporo. The bus will make two drop-off stops: first at the Bus Parking Lot near JR Sapporo Station’s North Exit, then at Exit 31 of Odori Park Subway Station—marking the end of the tour.
Forest Elf Terrace / Tomita Farm
Forest Elf Terrace: A cute, fairy-tale-like area with small wooden cabins decorated with plush elves and figurines. It’s great for quick photos and picking up small souvenirs.
Tomita Farm (June 15–September 15): Hokkaido’s iconic flower farm, bursting with summer color. Walk through lavender fields, snap photos with sunflowers, and try local treats like lavender ice cream—a sweet taste of Hokkaido.
Important Notes

Punctuality: The tour bus departs as planned to avoid delaying the group—please arrive at your chosen meeting point with enough time to check in smoothly.
What to Bring: Wear comfortable walking shoes (you’ll walk at the zoo and waterfall) and layered clothing (Hokkaido’s weather can shift quickly, even in summer). Bring a camera for photos, a reusable water bottle, and cash for meals or souvenirs.
