Description

Embark on a 2-day guided hiking tour from Nairobi to Mount Kenya. Hike through the Sirimon forest, spot wildlife, and stay overnight at the Old Moses Camp.
Day 1: Nairobi to Mount Kenya

Begin your adventure with a drive to the northeast of the equator, 150 km from Nairobi. Pass through the towns of Nanyuki and Karatina, where the local community grows tea and coffee.

Arrive at the Sirimon Gate and check in. Begin your hike, taking in views of the beautiful Mount Kenya Sirimon forest with bamboo, heather zones, and rock wood. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, birds, waterbucks, and giraffes.

After about 3 hours, arrive at the first camp of the Mount Kenya Sirimon route, Old Moses, at 3,320 meters. Spend the evening walking around to see the surrounding peaks or relax at the camp. Enjoy dinner at the camp.

Day 2: Mount Kenya to Nairobi

After breakfast, hike from Old Moses Camp to Mackinders Valley Rock Junction at 3,700 meters. Test your fitness by hiking at an average altitude of over 400 meters. Admire the vegetation cover at this altitude, including giant groundsel and giant lobelia, which form part of the equatorial forest mountain.

Return to the base of the mountain and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
