San Cristobal: Arch of Time Tour for 2 days Kayak to the Arch of Time

Experience an authentic adventure expedition to the impressive Arch of Time, one of the most spectacular geological formations in Mexico, located within the Selva El Ocote Biosphere Reserve. This experience is designed for travelers in good physical condition who are looking for pure nature, adrenaline, and total disconnection.

Day 1 – The expedition kicks off
The adventure kicks off with a pick-up at your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas at 4:30 a.m. There's also the option to depart from Tuxtla Gutiérrez. We'll head towards the General Lázaro Cárdenas community, passing through Cintalapa. Upon arrival, you'll check in and have free time for breakfast (not included).

Then, we'll set off on a hike of approximately 7 kilometers (about 3 hours) along jungle trails, accompanied by a certified local guide. The route includes technical descents, uneven terrain, and panoramic views of the La Venta River Canyon. The temperature can go over 30°C, so hydration is key.

When you reach the Arch of Time—a natural structure almost 200 meters high formed millions of years ago—you'll abseil 30 meters to access the interior of the canyon. Once at the bottom, we'll set up camp by the river. In the afternoon, you can swim (you must know how to swim), explore the surroundings, observe endemic flora and fauna, and capture unique photographs in a practically untouched environment. Dinner and a night of camping under a completely starry sky.

Day 2 – Return
At 7:00 a.m., we'll start breakfast and break camp. Then we'll rappel up and start the walk back to the community (about 3 hours).

Upon arrival, we'll board the return transport. You can stop in Cintalapa for lunch (not included). You'll arrive in San Cristóbal between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.

High-level hiking (approx. 14 km total)
Rappelling descent and ascent
Canyon camp
Flora and fauna observation
Time for swimming and photography

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
