Next, you'll walk to the iconic Arco del Carmen. Here, you'll learn about the history of colonial segregation and how traditional neighborhoods were historically structured. From this point, you'll see the view of the San Cristobalito hill while your tour guide explains its relevance to the local identity.
The tour continues along the Andador de Guadalupe, a pedestrian thoroughfare ideal for observing the effects of globalization and the city's current economic transformation. This activity is done entirely on foot through the historic center and traditional neighborhoods. Due to the narrow sidewalks, cobblestone pavements, uneven surfaces, and the city's historic architecture, the tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility, wheelchair users, or strollers or baby carriages.
The itinerary takes place at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level and includes streets with moderate slopes in the Barrio del Cerrillo, which may pose a slight physical challenge for people who are not used to the altitude or who have cardiopulmonary problems.
It is recommended to wear comfortable closed-toe shoes for walking on cobblestones, light warm clothing (the weather can change quickly), and sun protection.
