Country: Mexico

Duration: 05:00 hours

Description

We'll cycle through communities on dirt roads, as the area is agricultural and mountainous. We'll visit a 17th-century church and the Arcotete community park, and we'll talk about culture and traditions.
We start from the city by bike: our departure is a 5 km ascent, between asphalt streets and some dirt trails to the east.
Later, we'll take a small descent to observe the small communities of the Tzotzil Chamula Mayan group. This part of the area is divided into 97 small villages of 40 to 80 houses scattered among pine and oak forests.

We'll visit a 17th-century church in Carmen del Arcotete and talk about Mayan culture and traditions. At this point, we'll have our longest break.

We'll continue up and down on community dirt roads, heading towards the natural stone arch and El Arcotete community park. There, you'll have the option of another long break and/or some light food or drink. We'll walk down to the arch or check out the small grotto inside the arch.

We'll tackle the last climb to find the way back and head down to the city on an asphalt road, finishing the approximately 20 km.

On the tour, we'll talk about history, culture, and traditions. We'll also give you tips on how to use a mountain bike and the proper technique.

We're nature lovers and we like to share our experience. The bike gives us the option to visit non-touristy places and exercise.
