Meet your noble Soviet chariot and prepare for The Soviet Wine Safari. Four guests climb into a heroic vintage Lada, piloted by our calm designated driver and host who insists the day is a “serious cultural investigation.”
We rumble out of Chișinău and descend underground into the vast wine tunnels of Cricova Winery where the streets are named after grape varieties and the cellars stretch for kilometres. Somewhere between Chardonnay Avenue and Pinot Street you’ll begin to realise Moldova takes wine very seriously.
Back above ground, the adventure continues across vineyards and countryside roads that provide the Lada with a small but meaningful suspension workout. The reward is another legendary underground kingdom at Milestii Mici Winery, home to one of the largest wine collections on Earth.
Along the way there will be stories, questionable Soviet engineering, excellent Moldovan wine and plenty of stops while the Lada cools down and reflects on its glorious past.

Our meeting point is outside the wonderfully Soviet Cosmos Hotel, a grand concrete relic that has been confidently greeting travellers since the Cold War but sadly now closed. Stand near the entrance and look for a slightly heroic Lada and a chap with a Tipple Tours T-Shirt. If you see a car that looks like it survived several historical events and a driver who appears calmly prepared for Moldovan roads, congratulations, you’ve found us.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
