Description

Navigate the world’s second-smallest country in search of its hidden treasures with this self-guided audio tour. Experience the magic of GPS playback on this walk through 3 of Monaco's neighbourhoods
Monaco is synonymous with wealth and luxury. The opulent city, which is also the world’s second smallest country, lies on the Mediterranean Sea in the fabulous French Riviera. On this walking tour, you’ll promenade from one end of the glamourous city to the other, taking in its main sights and also going off the beaten path to find its lesser-known corners.

You’ll explore the popular Monte Carlo District, renowned for Monte Carlo Casino, Opéra de Monte Carlo, and the very famous (and equally dangerous) Formula 1 Fairmont Hairpin Curve. Along the way, you’ll see one of the only places where you can watch the Grand Prix for free and hear how Monaco’s casino was transformed from a gambling den of ill repute into a world-class destination. You’ll then venture to the Quartier du Port (Port District) where I’ll show you Port Hercules and share a few secrets on how to become a multi-millionaire within a few days. Finally, you’ll see the Prince’s Palace and Saint Nicholas Cathedral and learn about the Monegasque language, which you can spot on street signs in Monaco’s Old Town today.

On this tour, you’ll have a chance to:

• See the François Grimaldi statue, commemorating the ‘Father of Monaco’, and find out about the family’s secrets and their infamous curse
• View one of the most impressive buildings in the city, Musée Océanographique de Monaco (Oceanographic Museum of Monaco)
• Discover why the residents of Monaco aren’t allowed to access Monte Carlo Casino
• Learn about the country’s royal family, one of the most influential families in the world, and get to know their daily routines
• Take in breathtaking views of Port de Fontvieille, a neighborhood that appears to float on water and was built on stilts and pontoons using one-of-a-kind technology
• Hear interesting facts about Monaco’s history, its residents and the country’s future plans
• Explore Jardins Saint-Martin (Saint Martin Gardens) where you’ll find exotic plants
• Find out how many times you can fit Monaco into Central Park

By the end of this tour, you’ll have learned about the history, art, politics and social life of the incredible country of Monaco. Ready to see it for yourself? Fantastic! Join us on this wonderful stroll through the city’s eclectic neighborhoods.
